A positive and inclusive culture

Our values are the foundation of everything we do. They reflect our commitment to creating a Great Place to Work: a place where everyone has a role to play, where personal leadership and initiative are celebrated, and where actions speak louder than words. They shape how we prioritise our customers, emphasise collaboration, and ensure that everyone matters - both within our teams and in the communities we serve.

The formation of SNG, from the merger of Sovereign and Network Homes, has given us the opportunity to reshape our values (launching in April 2025). They craft a new way of working, combining the strengths of two leading housing organisations.

Our values empower us to create a culture that inspires action, encourages accountability, and strengthens our focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for our customers and colleagues alike.

  • Shape the future - we want to be the leading landlord in the south of England and we're committed to improving customer service, building thousands more homes and reshaping SNG to do that - as well as staying financially strong and investing in new technology and innovation.
  • Feel good - we have a strong social purpose and we're not-for-profit, so every penny's reinvested in new and existing homes or on supporting and developing great services for all our customers and their communities. That's why our exciting roles give you the chance to make a real difference to people's lives every day.
  • Be yourself - being at work is a big part of our lives, so we're investing in creating attractive working environments and a welcoming, inclusive culture where you can bring your whole self and be valued and appreciated for who you are. This includes listening to our people through employee representative groups and regular surveys.
  • Achieve more - if you share our commitment to excellence and growth, we'll give you great training and career opportunities (including talent, leadership development and mentoring programmes) and the recognition and reward you deserve.

Equality, diversity and inclusion – it’s about all of us

We strive to be recognised as a fair and inclusive employer and landlord; and a force for change in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) topics.

For us, EDI is all about people: building a workforce that reflects the diversity of our communities; creating workspaces where everyone is treated fairly and according to their needs. It’s also about putting our customers’ first and meeting their variety of needs in the most effective and inclusive way.

We want everyone who works for us, or lives in our homes and communities, to feel at home. It’s our shared responsibility to deliver this vision and one way we do this is by running regular education and awareness sessions. These touch on topics such as race, disability, LGBTQ+ inclusion at work, inclusive leadership and more. This helps make sure our workforce is comfortable and confident navigating through a positive, diverse and inclusive culture.

We’ve been working hard to embed EDI into everything we do. Find out more below.

  • Equal opportunities employer - we’re an accredited Investors in People organisation. We treat people fairly regardless of their sex, age, disability, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy, race, religion or sexual orientation.
  • Disability Confident Employer - we're committed to inclusive and accessible recruitment. Find out more about the Disability Confident scheme.
  • EDI groups - our EDI Forum oversees delivery of the EDI strategy and sets targets for our work. We also have a number of active employee networks around characteristics such as race, gender, sexual orientation and disability/caring responsibilities.
  • Flexible work approaches - we offer family-friendly policies and flexible working approaches, including part-time or school hours only posts. Many roles also allow working from home alongside time in an office or other base.
  • Focus on wellbeing – we have a range of wellbeing resources and support available, including regular topic-based events and a team of trained colleagues who are available if you need to talk.
