SNG secures a further £36.5million funding for warmer, healthier and greener homes

We’re delighted to have been awarded £36.5 million grant funding to invest in 4,500 of our existing homes across London and the South of England, improving the condition of our housing stock and prioritising health, wellbeing and affordability benefits for customers.

This funding comes from the Government’s Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 where a total of £1.29billion and has been allocated across 144 projects to help improve energy efficiency, tackle fuel poverty and upgrade heating systems on a pathway to net zero.

This funding supports our 10 year £0.5 billion investment and Homes and Place strategies to retrofit 1,500 homes each year targeting 15,000 existing homes at EPC B+ over the next decade.

This latest award builds on SNG's previous success securing £19.2 million via the SHDF Wave 2.1 funding round to improve over 3,000 homes.

Jim Dyer, SNG Director of Built Environment, commented: “We are delighted and very grateful to the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNEZ) for their vital support and trust to be their Strategic Delivery Partner in the midst of this cost of living crisis when annual energy bills are expected to be £1,800 per year - almost two thirds higher than pre-Ukraine War.

"The strategic objectives of this funding perfectly align with our own Homes and Place Standard prioritising customer health, wellbeing and affordability while also mapping a pathway to net zero, helping improve the quality of our portfolio over the next 25 years. The scale and ambition of this funding will instil much needed supply chain confidence, advance the green economy and supports UK energy security while stabilising electricity prices and reducing household energy costs.“

The true impact of these improvements are keenly felt by our customers. Andrea and Stephen now live in a much healthier and warmer homes. Check out their story below.
