Becoming one organisation
SNG (Sovereign Network Group) was formed on 1 October 2023, through Sovereign Housing Association and Network Homes coming together.
Since the merger, we have been able to increase investment in our existing homes and SNG is currently one of the few large housing associations that is looking to increase its development pipeline, with an ambition to deliver 25,000 new homes over the next ten years.
In addition, our new community foundation will invest £100m in our communities over the next decade, generating £1bn of social value. Over time, as we fully integrate, we expect our customers to see continued service improvements.
At the point of merging, we created a group structure with Sovereign becoming the parent, trading as Sovereign Network Group, and Network Homes joining as a subsidiary, changing its name to Sovereign Network Homes (SNH).
On 31 March 2025, we completed the final stage of our merger by amalgamating this group structure to create one legal entity and a single organisation, called Sovereign Network Group.
This legal change will not have any material impact on our customers or partners as it's not directly associated with changes to service delivery and as existing contracts will carry over into the new group.
We are writing to all our customers to make them aware - including legal notices confirming the change of landlord name to Sovereign Network Group (and a change of address of landlord for former Network Homes customers).
At the same time, we are pleased to have merged our previous two customer websites into www.sng.org.uk. And we will continue to develop our information and advice as we bring our remaining services together.
Summary of letter on what this means for customers
- The merger doesn't affect your right to live in your home. You’ll still have the same lease or tenancy agreement.
- At the moment, please keep contacting us using our existing phone numbers, post and email addresses - or more specific contact details in any letters we send you.
- If you are in receipt of Housing Benefit, you can send a copy of this letter to the Housing Benefit Team at your local council, so they are aware of the change in your landlord's name. We will also be making them aware.
- If you are in receipt of Universal Credit, please do not make any changes to your landlord’s name at this time - to avoid difficulties with your payments. We’ll send out further communication about how and when to do this at a later date.
- If you pay us by Direct Debit or standing order, you will not need to do anything. (Former Network Homes customers will see the name change on their direct debit mandate and account name on their standing orders.)
- If you search for our bank details with online banking, please look for the name Sovereign Network Group (this name change may take a short time into April to be updated by our bank).
What else is happening from April?
- From 1 April we are bringing together our websites and online customer accounts, so please visit www.sng.org.uk to access all our information and support, as well as your customer account. We will also redirect any existing links you may use.
- As some services are still separate, we will flag any web content as being relevant to one or both sets of customers. We will generally use 'South and West' for former Sovereign Housing customers or 'London and East' for former Network Homes customers. (The website will also have a postcode checker if you're not sure.)
- Across the business we're continuing to bring together our teams, systems and ways of working so that we can provide you with even better services. While some of this work has been done, more is underway. We remain committed to providing locally based teams, supported by central services and specialist roles.
- We're also pleased to have nearly completed setting up the SNG Community Foundation. As a registered charity, this will let us access new sources of funding so that we can expand the support we can offer individual customers and their communities. Please visit our www.sng.org.uk website to find out more about all the help available: from support on jobs, training and managing your money to grants for local groups.
